
Project Manager - Commercial Construction
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing all phases of commercial renovation and new construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the company’s quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical construction knowledge, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling

Develop detailed project plans, including scopes, budgets, and timelines specific to commercial renovation and new build projects.

Coordinate design, permitting, and preconstruction activities with clients, architects, and engineers.

Identify project risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.

Prepare and maintain critical path schedules using project management software.
Construction Management

Oversee day-to-day field operations, ensuring site activities align with project plans, specifications, and safety requirements.

Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring all trades deliver quality work and adhere to schedules.

Conduct regular job site inspections, progress meetings, and quality control reviews.

Coordinate with facility managers and tenants to minimize disruptions during renovation projects.
Financial Oversight

Develop and manage project budgets, track job costs, and ensure financial performance meets company goals.

Review and approve subcontractor bids, change orders, and vendor invoices.

Prepare accurate project forecasts and communicate cost impacts to company leadership and clients.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance

Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, ADA standards, and OSHA safety requirements.

Implement and enforce the company’s safety program on all job sites.

Conduct quality assurance checks and resolve any construction issues or deficiencies promptly.
Client & Stakeholder Relations

Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and accountability.

Manage expectations regarding project milestones, scope changes, and financial updates.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Minimum 5 years of experience managing commercial construction and renovation projects.

Proven track record overseeing tenant improvements, build-outs, and ground-up commercial construction.

Strong knowledge of building codes, construction sequencing, and contract administration.

Proficient in project management and scheduling software (Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, or equivalent).

Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills

Experience managing projects in retail, office, healthcare, or light industrial sectors.

Familiarity with design-build and value engineering processes.

OSHA 30-Hour Certification.

Ability to manage multiple active job sites simultaneously.
